AVG Anti virus is a good, reliable and free program.
Also install Ad-Aware as it is very effective, free and highly recommended.
You may also try Spybot – Search & Destroy.

McAfee Virus Scan is what I’ve been using along with it’s partner program McAfee Anti-Spyware.
Both have worked great and are easy to update.

i’ve been using AVG anti virus for years and have been very happy with it. i’ve even tested it by introducing known virus files into my computer and it caught them immediately every time.

i’m not saying this is best but i use trend micro and i have had no problems for over a year. it works fine for me.
Stay away from Norton & McAfee – too many viruses are written to be undetectable by these two common programs.
Go with AVG!
